Born December 29, 1951 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Winifred and Elmer Yoder.
Deborah was a graduate of Chief Logan High School in Lewistown. She later went on to complete a two-year accounting program at Straford Career Institute. Deborah was an avid gardener, and took great pride maintaining plants and flowers on her front porch and front yard in the summer. She was very creative in that she loved to draw, do calligraphy, write poetry, and play the piano. She loved all animals, domestic and wild, and she was a great advocate for people for ethical treatment of animals. She also gave generously to Harrisburg Humane Society. She also lived a Vegan lifestyle all her life and was a supporter of the North American Vegetarian Society. She was a loving, kind, giving, caring, spiritual, and an intelligent woman with a wonderful sense of humor. These qualities are what made her so wonderful. Deborah was a supporter of President Donald Trump.
Deborah is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 40 years, Gerald F. Gillette, of Camp Hill, whom she loved beyond words. Deborah is also survived by three sisters, Patricia Bishop, Peggy Knepper (William), and Susan Daubert (Vernon) all of Lewistown. In addition, Deborah is survived by her fur baby Mitts, her cat which she considered a gift from God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Renee Hartley, and her sister Mary Jane Simpson.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions all services will be private. Private burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Deborah hopes that if you can take anything away from reading this obituary, let it be kindness. In keeping with Deborah’s wishes please omit flowers, for they will be provided.
