Obituary for Marianne McManus (Graham)

Marianne McManus (Graham)
Marianne F. McManus, of Camp Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 26, 1940, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Arch and Margaret (McClintock) Graham.
Marianne graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School, Harrisburg and Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
Marianne enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse, serving at Harrisburg and Holy Spirit Hospitals. Although working in many areas of nursing, she had a particular interest in the field of mental health. Upon leaving nursing, Marianne served as chair of the Crime Victims’ Compensation Board of Pennsylvania under Governor Robert P. Casey.
She had a passion for politics and world affairs; Marianne was a member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women, a founding member of the Tri-County Federation of Democratic Women, former chair of the Democratic Party of Cumberland County, and a member of the Foreign Policy Association of Harrisburg. Marianne was extremely grateful for the many friendships that she established over the years through these organizations. In addition, she took great joy in meeting monthly with her friends and former high school classmates from Bishop McDevitt.
Marianne is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George McManus; her son Mark McManus and companion, Holly Rys; her brother, Jack Graham and wife Pat; her sister in law, Margaret Pitcher; her cousin, Virginia Cannon; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Margaret Houseworth.
Her family wishes to extend their warmest appreciation to the nurses and aides of Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and Home Instead Senior Care for their commitment to Marianne during her illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill with Rev. Philip Burger as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill. Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, 3908 Corey Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
