Lt. Col. Keith Durbin, Ret.
Lt. Col. Keith E. Durbin, Ret., of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday June 24, 2018 at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg.
He was Born in Brockway, PA in 1929. He attended Virginia Military Institute. He graduated from Penn State University. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Harrisburg.
He retired from the Army in 1970. He was veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was Commander of the “Minute Gun” salute for the burial ceremonies of the World War II and Korean Unknown Soldiers in May 1958, Arlington Cemetery, Washington, D.C. He also served 6 years in Germany and many stateside stations. He taught Nuclear Weapon Warfare at Fort Knox, KY, in 1968. Ending his Military Career in the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He also retired from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 379 F&AM, Coudersport Consistory.
Keith is survived by his wife, Belva Welty Durbin, son, David (Karen) Durbin, daughter, Kimberly (Vernon) Rowles, grandchildren, Eric (Stacy) Durbin, Geoffrey (Catherine) Durbin, Renee Durbin, Kara (James) Tepel and Ian (Taylor) Rowles.
All services will be private, and burial with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
